That's pretty typical of anime style though, particularly of anime fanartists. Unless a character is extremely exaggerated, most have small/to nonexistent noses.

I don't mind it as a style choice but it is weird on characters who should have bigger noses. But there is plenty of SU fanart in more western styles that keeps fairly close to her original design.

Yeah, I'd agree. With no comment at all on the original SU style, when you do a character in different art styles, of course different features need to be "translated". Anime noses tend to be tiny, so making it just a little longer than average probably pretty well represents the original.

Yeah I think OP's example would be easier to understand if you had her against other characters that the same artist drew, now if they draw all the characters with the same nose then I see the point, but if Pearl's is bigger in comparison then it's obviously an attempt to translate her into a different style as well as they can.

I mean either way it's fanart so people can do as they please, but sometimes when you change styles you lose certain aspects of a character.

I mean in fairness anime style art has small noses. It just does. You can make the nose slightly bigger than the average, but you can't draw a big honking schnozz without seriously altering the anime aesthetic and making the character look ridiculous. SU has extremely stylized art so some of the more distinctive features aren't really gonna translate well to other art styles.

I feel like Pearl would fit better in an anime style if it were say...Vision of Escaflowne or it's movie, Girl on Gaea.

I don't watch Steven Universe but that is some seriously adorable fanart. *_*

I don't know why, but I always love it when long haired female characters get drawn with short hair and vice versa. Same for when characters with ponytails wear their hair down for once or characters with their hair down put it up in a ponytail.
