So full disclosure, I've never watched Riverdale, but my impression is that it isn't really for teens exclusively? It seems like it's pretty nostalgic with a modern flair.

At the most basic level, it functions in terms of a CW Teen Drama, and anything else it's doing is layered on top of that. It is very, very committed to its genre (and aware of its genre) being teen drama.

It did throw in a "Breakfast Club" joke recently, which seemed aimed at an older demographic. Do teens still know the the Breakfast Club? Genuine question.
