That having to rely on government assistance for survival is a thing?
That a first world nation (given the nomenclature used, presumably the US) has citizens going hungry?
That not every Patreon patron is stinking rich?
That not every human being has empathy enough to help the poor even if they have enough to spare?

No, but don't assume the person who posted it is any of those things. If nothing else, there seems to be a lot of teenagers around here.

OP didn't confirm they were starving, the food stamps are the government's effort to combat that. It is a damn shame that anyone has to rely on them but all the secret means to me is that someone who writes terrific fanfic is in a less than desirable position in their lives. Doesn't mean they "deserve" more than the next person on EBT. I bet some rich, entitled people write great fic too. I'm obviously missing something here and I apologize.

It's pretty common to make nothing from Patreon, or barely anything.
