yeah, i kind of get you. sure, you can (and should!!!) make your own life as interesting as possible, but an adventure you're in charge of is always going to be different from an adventure that just kind of happens to you. especially since most grand, life-changing real life adventures (like moving to a foreign country) involve adventuring through a bureaucratic hellscape first in most cases, and straying from the beaten path tends to be legally inadvisable.

so while i can only recommend you do as much self-planned adventuring as you can (even if you think it won't be as magical or w/e, you can't know until you've done it properly, maybe even a few times), i do get that wistfulness.
