It doesn't seem like it would be that hard to do, even considering the marketing angle. The art consistency on that show is hella wonky -- depending on the storyboarder and the scene, Steven is apparently somewhere between two and five feet tall. How hard would it really be to start drawing him a little taller and ganglier here and there and then just stick with it?

it worked for Finn on Adventure Time. they're drawing him almost as tall as PB in newer episodes. http://i.imgur.com/kdfcLxa.png
