you forgot about the carriages drawn by the death horses that can only be seen if you watched someone die!

also durmstrang doesn't have proper heating. yeah, basically the wizarding world should long since have died out.

Ah yes, the death horses. Because normal horses or MAGIC is so passé.

To be fair, Durmstang is a Russian school (or something like that?). They probably find heating to be for wimps.

bulgarian, i think? if it is properly specified, i cannot remember right now. but yep, death horses. they're harmless enough, but they add just this twinge of unease.

also: everything is powered by the slave labour of house elves, which didn't make it into the films iirc.

House elves always creeped me out. They are enslaved sentient creatures who are regularly abused and most people don't seem to care.

same though. i liked the hermione-fights-for-elf-rights storyline as an idea, but a lot of it was really, really uncomfortable in practice, too.
