I'm sorry, OP. :(

I sort of knew the lyrics but they didn't really sink in until another secret here posted them, now yeah. They definitely remind me of my ED days, especially those forums where people would post lyrics, or have the lyrics as sigs etc. Just reminds me of all that.

The fucked up thing is I miss those days. The forums and the community and the competitions and the sense that I was actually accomplishing something, even if that something was ultimately unhealthy and messed up.

I'm sorry, OP.

I've heard a few people mention that they liked songs/books/movies about eating disorders while they had the disorder, and that that kind of media encouraged them to keep up the disordered eating rather than encouraging them to get help. You're probably not alone with this.

Wouldn't it get people to understand if you explained to them the real reason you dislike it and your history? It would get them to take it seriously, for one.

(not the OP) There was a popular song that was a real problem for me due to past sexual assault and I certainly didn't want to explain the whole thing every time the song came on. Fortunately its day has passed and I never hear it anymore.

Not OP but you'd be surprised how many people think EDs like anorexia and bulimia are female-only disorders and look at men funny if they say they've had it. From a woman they'd be sympathetic, because 'of course women have weight issues,' but from a guy they're like 'uh what? why? what was wrong with you? you wanted to be smaller? that's not a thing men are supposed to want.'

You'd be surprised how unsympathetic they are even for women. Definitely not something I'd want to share with people.
