I don't get the "coded" concept in itself, period. Child coded, autistic coded, Jewish coded, whatever, to me it just looks like Tumblr is making up things again.

Like, you don't get it at all? Because they can take it way too far but there are definitely cases where it does apply. It's a legitimate concept.

Coding is real but people take the concept too far. A good and easy example of choosing are cartoon characters Like Panthro from 80s Thundercats who speak with an African American cadence. Listen to him and look at his coloring and design. He's Black. That's not a bad thing. Panthro RULES, and part of why I like him is because He's Black, like me.

That said, child coding is trickier. I like childish acting characters but to outright see an adult character as a child, they better look like a kid. Yes, the ancient which who looks like a five year old trope is fucked up, specifically because it too often is used to justify pedo mess. But I don't care so long as it isn't sexualized. Then it's just fun.
