Exactly. I need my heroes to have a touch of altruism where they realize that other people and their feelings do actually matter. Snape would have been perfectly content to let Voldermort take over the world, and would have been more than happy to help, if it didn't involve killing Lily. The murdering of an innocent baby, either Harry or Neville was totally cool with Snape. That's a huge WTF for me and why I couldn't take his arc as a hero seriously. If he honestly did realize that Voldermort was wrong for wanting to enslave Muggles and murdering and torturing tons of wizards and witches, he never indicated it in the story. If he ever did feel that way, JK did a huge disservice to his character by never showing it.
