Exactly this. I don't have an issue with not smiling - goodness knows this character didn't have much to be happy about! But the actress was pretty wooden except for a few scenes. That scene where she sees her father's hologram message looks like she's sucking lemons.

Interesting. That scene (and her reaction) seemed on point to me. But I was really emotional when I saw Rogue One because it was my first Christmas without my dad. The trying-not-to-show-emotion thing felt real to me because that had been the bulk of my year.

That said, I did find her to be the Katniss Everdeen of Star Wars -- in that things happened to her and she reacted. She didn't make things happen.
