Do you watch on a flat screen in a furnished room? You may be compounding the issue with poor sound dynamics. Try adjusting your set.

People have been complaining to the BbC about many of their programs. It's a complex issue and only some elements are related to sound mixing.

Bugger. That was meant four number 4.

I think wanting to create for a certain series doesn't necessarily mean you always want to consume what other people are producing. Or basically, liking a series doesn't mean you have to like fanfic, fanart, fanvids, etc, even if you produce them yourself.

I produce fanart because I want to draw for something I love, I'm honestly not always all that interested in other people's fanart though.

I've written for a number of fandoms. I rarely read fics in the fandoms I write for.

I don't think it's hypocritical. It's inevitable that some fandoms will inspire you to write fic, yet not have much fic that you're interested in reading.

Huh, I didn't stop to think about whether there was something hypocritical about that, haha. That's me with my main fandom right now-- mostly because there's a lot of high quality art, and a lot of absolutely garbage fic, but I'm writing my own because I've still got the bug up my butt about it. I haven't really posted any of it, though, I'm mostly writing it for the benefit of my close friends.

like many anons, I don't consume fic in the fandoms I write for. or at all, really, because I only have like three fandoms I fully invest in and I won't read fic for them at all. been burned too many times by shitty, shitty fic, and life is too short for slogging through shitty fic.

I don't think it's hypocritical in the least. Hypocritical would be demanding other fans read all the fic including yours and then just never reading anything yourself.

I feel you, OP.

I always feel really bad that, especially when I'm writing, I just don't feel like reading other fics in the same fandom I'm writing in. I'm engrossed in the one I'm telling. And in all honesty, it's goodfic dry spells that lead me to write. Or someone had a great idea and botched the execution in my opinion, or.. I could go on and on.

So you're definitely not alone, on any of those counts!
