I've noticed this can be a problem with a lot of British productions for some reason, but I don't know why. The dialogue tracks seem a little soft or muffled even if the background music isn't that loud. It's like trying to listen to a conversation between two people at the end of a long tunnel.

It seems to be a current fashion at the BBC. It's really annoying. I don't know why - possibly they're trying to make it sound more naturalistic - but I wish they'd stop. They used to be able to get it right!
