nayrt but it's pretty much a joke at this point that people claim SNL is "not as good as it used to be", with the "best years" coincidentally landing when they themselves were around high school/college age.

Personally, I think SNL has had a lot of fantastic sketches in the past year or so, owing a lot to the political stuff and a few ace performers. Of course there are misses, there always are, but I find most of their stuff amusing enough for material that was slapped together in less than a week.

All I can say is that I'm aware of the tendency and that I don't think that's what's happening here

Exactly. Everyone shits on anything that falls outside that range. Like, I've been watching regularly since I was 10 and I'm 24 now, and I haven't even been disappointed with a cast yet.

... So you've been watching for 14 years? LOL, hon, that isn't that long. The show's been on since 1975. I think people are fine to note that it's changed, even if it's something as subjective as it 'not being as funny anymore'. Because, shit, of course it's changed.
