Yeah. People who don't like animals for some reason always make me side-eye them. I wonder if there's empathy there towards people, either. Anyone who's cruel to animals, especially, but even just people who have no use for them or find them disgusting and irritating, I wonder about those people, and I don't quite trust them. I don't mean someone who's afraid of dogs because they were bitten once, or something like that--that's a bit different--but someone who just generally doesn't like animals or is cruel to animals, thinks animal cruelty is funny, etc. I always sort of figure they're a psychopath in the making. There are too many studies linking animal cruelty to human cruelty...

Yup, it's true that the link between violence to animals and to humans is very well-documented. I think in general (this is a personal opinion), violence against those who are weaker/cannot defend themselves is associated with either callousness, or low social ability. Which is funny, because it's exactly the opposite of what thread OP was saying.

Not to say that being annoyed by an animal is the same as actively hurting them, of course, but I agree that I will always feel either sorry for or a little bit wary of anybody that goes out of their way to remark on how annoying, stupid, etc. they find pets.
