Eh, they made him look more like Ruffalo, is all. Probably due to slight advances in the mocap system they chose to use.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-08 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
But should the Hulk version look like Ruffalo?

Was motion capture technology really holding them back before, though? If they can make Andy Serkis into Gollum or King Kong, I doubt that there were difficulties making Hulk resemble Ruffalo more closely, if that's what they wanted to do.

I think they are just getting better at rendering the Hulk to look like Ruffalo.

Dudes know their audience. Nothing in the world wrong with playing to your crowd. If thirsty ladies is where the money is, I say go for it. As long as the movies are still good, I'll still enjoy them even with bae-hulk

Really? I think I prefer the shaggier earlier version, and I'm a Ruffalo!Banner fangirl.

There's at least some hints in canon that The Hulk is somewhat mutable depending on how comfortable the Banner/Hulk dichotomy is at any point in time.

I had thought, too, when he was in different places/dimensions (planet Hulk?), he looked a little different, too.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-09 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that was what I figured. He's been Hulk for a while (several years?) at this point. He cleaned up a little. He/they're comfortable with each other. In other media he actually gets more grotesque the more ragey he gets.

I just figured it was because their CGI tech had gotten better.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-09 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Considering what CGI has been capable of for years, is making a big green dude look more like Mark Ruffalo that hard?

They gave Thor a haircut before they sent him into the ring. Makes sense they'd do the same for the Hulk, if possible.

...Huh. I hadn't noticed it before, but now I'm not going to be able to un-notice it.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-08 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I kinda wish they'd make him look more like Lou Ferrigno, since he's kind of "my" Hulk.

The Incredible Hunk?

Hunk smash?

LOL

(Anonymous) 2017-08-09 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
It could be like a metaphor, the better control Bruce has over Hulk, the more human he physically and mentally becomes. That's just my two cents.

(Anonymous) 2017-08-09 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
This is what I was thinking too.

Wow, you're right!

(Anonymous) 2017-08-09 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
I hadn't noticed this before, but wow. It's almost like they replaced Bruce with Amadeus.

His nose is way too small for his face in the pic on the right, it's practically a kid's nose.

maybe he lost some weight

I assume if he's going to be a significant part in the Thor movie that they needed a model that would have expressions that were easier to read than the previous Hulk. it's one thing if the Hulk is a small part of an ensemble cast, but to be on screen for significant portions of time, it makes sense they've made him a little easier on the eyes.
