Dammmit, I don't want to play devils advocate here...

But the passing of 7 years is no indication that they now think any different. Going 7 years without voicing an opinion that landed them in the shit is not indicative that they think any different.

I've changed some of my opinions from 7 years ago, but others I am even more sure of now than I was 7 years ago.

You're right, but at the same time I don't the idea of continuing to condemn someone without evidence that they're still the same kind of person.

Obviously there are some things that I cannot overlook, but in general I feel this way.

I think if there were no indications in either direction, I'd prefer to err on the side of giving them the benefit of the doubt. It depends on what they said/did, because something really do need an apology or some form of accounting for what happened, and should not just be swept under the rug.
