But... isn't deciding that you'll SUSPEND YOUR ABILITY TO LIKE SOMEONE until it's been seven years since they said _____ also really ridiculous? Sheesh, just like someone, or don't like them.

I really doubt OP is as strict about this as you're making them out to be. If the background picture is any indication, OP is just tired of being guilted by YFIP posts composed of stupid things an actor/creator said on TV a decade ago, so they came up with this rule to keep themselves sane. I doubt they cling so fervently to it that they hate an actor 5ever if they said something stupid five years ago, while forgiving another for saying the same thing seven years ago. It's more likely that they slowly care less the longer it's been, with seven years being the point at which they fully don't give a crap.
