Um... you do know that after that at the end of that episode after his freak out he realizes that his and Rachel's past relationship shouldn't stand in the way of Joey and Rachel's current relationship? "This is crazy. I mean, six years and because of me you guys aren't going to be together." He knew that he wasn't okay with their relationship but that he wanted to be and assured Joey that he was still his friend.

Also I never bought Joey and Rachel's relationship. I bought Joey having feelings for her but not Rachel's feelings for Joey beyond a surface attraction.

Not saying Rachel and Ross were an amazing couple or that Ross is a great character but the hate for him seems based on people completely ignoring the good things he did and over stating his bad parts. It sort of bugs me.
