they didn't go public with it =/= they told no one. going public about that kind of thing (if you're not, y'know, actually one of the people in the relationship) is already considered tacky if your idea of 'public' limits itself to your facebook feed, as opposed to the hundreds of thousands of complete strangers (ie fans) that would refer to in this context.

... plus, his wife is a person, too. if this was my husband, i wouldn't necessarily want the entire freaking world to discuss this unless i was ready for that kind of attention. the situation is shitty and hurtful enough without unwanted input.

and then there's the factor of it just not being good press to shittalk your former boss. especially not if he's gotten you some amount of success. it's a business, at the end of the day.
