In the U.S., pregnant women are NOT obligated to tell their current employer or future employer (if they're job hunting) that they are pregnant, and employers and potential employers are forbidden to ask if a woman is pregnant or planning to become pregnant.

The reason for this is because pregnant women have almost no protection in the workplace. Even though it's technically illegal to fire a woman because she's pregnant, and employers are required to make "reasonable" accommodations for pregnant women, the fact is employers get around this shit all the time and pregnant women have suddenly found themselves "laid off due to restructuring" OR fired because they suddenly become "bad employees."
