I feel I am kind-of in the fanfic version of that rut - that is to say I can't get into any books because I really only read fanfic.

Valandhir has sent me some stuff to read, including some Heinlein and translations of the Witcher novels. I should get into them.

the witcher novels are an excellent read, just picked those up last week myself. The author is apparently such a genius in his original language that it even translates into English. There were bits in the first book of short stories (not chronologically first written, but came first in-universe) gave me actual chills in multiple parts of it.

This is my exact problem. With the exception of on-going series I'm already invested in, I can't get into any new books because every time I start reading one, I just keep thinking about that new fic I haven't read yet and how much more excited I am to start that. It really prevents me from investing in any of the new books I try to the point where I usually give up on them and go read fic instead :) This has been a problem for me for months now.
