I mean, yeah, biopics (or dramatizations of real people and events) do seem the go-to for Oscar bait, but even the good ones often get a fair amount wrong and all of them leave out stuff (which they kind of have to if they don't want movies that are, like, eight hours long).

But they both wrote autobiographies (Steps in Time and Ginger: My Story) and there are several biographies about them. And you can always watch Top Hat.

And Royal Wedding is essentially Fred Astaire's pre-Hollywood career (highly fictionalized, obviously).
