We wouldn't need Fandom Secrets then, if we followed that ancient proverb, now would we?

(Anonymous) 2017-09-10 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I don't know. Another version is "taste is like the butt: divided" and that fits F!S perfectly.

(Anonymous) 2017-09-10 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
So you don't find him funny, no big deal, not everyone has the same sense of humour.

But insulting his shirts was just plain mean and unnecessary.

(Anonymous) 2017-09-10 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, he chooses his shirts. I'd complain about the fact that they insulted his hands.

(Anonymous) 2017-09-10 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Especially by calling them "girly"

that's just no good

(Anonymous) 2017-09-10 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
+1

(Anonymous) 2017-09-10 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed. If OP had gotten in range of my girly hands, I'd punch.

(Anonymous) 2017-09-10 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed.

(Anonymous) 2017-09-10 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
That's actually the only thing I agree with in this secret, I just don't find "girly hands" to be that much of an insult. But to be fair, his fingernails are prettier than mine, so, yeah.

(Anonymous) 2017-09-10 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I just wanted to say that's a poor choice of a picture for a secret claiming he's not good looking (among other things). I mean, yeah, personal taste and all that, but damn.

(Anonymous) 2017-09-10 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't feel any kind of way about this man, but I like his hands and shirt.

(Anonymous) 2017-09-10 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I kind of feel like OP made this secret to be petty to Chris Addison anon.

(Anonymous) 2017-09-10 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel like Chris Addison's anon is going to lay waste to this place when they see this.

(Anonymous) 2017-09-11 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, I'm not gonna fight with the OP over this (I might, if they haven't added "girly hands and stupid shirts", which just makes them sound as if they want to insult someone without really knowing how).

I really enjoy being dubbed a Chris Addison's anon, though. That's nice. I like it.

(Anonymous) 2017-09-11 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
See I'm somewhat unusual in that I fully admit that he's just an okay actor (I think his skill is probably more writing and stand-up comedy than acting) and is more "cute" than hot.

But Chris Addison is such a fresh and charming person that I can't help loving him anyway.
His characters are nearly always arseholes (Ollie Reeder in particular), so I don't necessarily warm to them.

But whenever you see him interviewed or even follow him on Twitter, he just comes across as so nice and funny and down-to-earth, that I can't help but squee a little bit.

I'd love to see him in a sitcom where he fundamentally gets play a slightly more animated version of himself, because I think he could really shine there. (I had hopes that would be the case with Trying Again, but sadly that wasn't the case).

Alright.

Of the British comedy panel show regulars (because I've only ever seen him on Mock the Week) with the last name beginning with 'A', he ranks solidly in the middle.

James Acaster
Richard Ayoade
Chris Addison
Clive Anderson
Simon Amstell

He'd probably still be in the middle if I included the rest of the letters. Sometimes his jokes hit and sometimes they don't (and he does reach on some), but when he's on, I think he's pretty funny.

The insult of 'girly hands' is sexist, though, whether you're implying that having hands like a girl is bad or that only girls have well-kept hands.

Re: Alright.

(Anonymous) 2017-09-11 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
I'd put Richard Ayoade on top...

... of me. But of the list, too.

Re: Alright.

(Anonymous) 2017-09-11 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
ayrt

I think both Ayoade and Acaster are really good, but something about Acaster's sullen delivery really works for me and just edges out Ayoade's matter-of-fact pedantry.

A Chris Addison secret that wasn't posted by me. Wow, that hasn't happen in a while. Wish it was a nicer one, though :/ Personally, I could write poetry about how precious I think he is, but I won't. Because that would be kinda creepy.

I think he's funny most of the time, but I get it, not everyone's gonna laugh at the same things. I love his energy, though, even when his jokes aren't the best, he's still a joy to watch. A mediocre actor? Okay, well, maybe. He's not as brilliant as, say, Peter Capaldi, but he was still quite good in The Thick of It and Doctor Who, imho.

And if you just wanted to be extra mean with the "girly hands and stupid shirts" thing, that's really petty of you, OP. His shirts are flowery awesomeness and "girly hands" is not even an insult.

I actually find him quite annoying outside of The Thick of It. (I mean, obviously his character is annoying in that...)
