It's probably much better for business if they're open to any costume fun. People who dress up tend to be really into somewhat nerdy pursuits, and if their enthusiasm is welcome, their $$ will be spent there. The more one narrows an audience the less likely the venue is to do well. Basically, you won't be likely to find a lot of support for this idea in any for-profit venue. If it's nerdy fun and dress up time...bring in on, along with your money. Now, non-profit groups might be a bit different, of course.
