Re: Do you feel guilty for buying sex toys or porn?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-22 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
I don't get it. Why would you feel guilty for buying a sex toy?

Porn (Live action I assume?) I understand, you'd be participating in rape, financially supporting rape, and helping to perpetuate a system of rape.

But I can't for the life of me think why you'd consider a sextoy something to be guilty about. Who are you harming?

Re: Do you feel guilty for buying sex toys or porn?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-22 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
I've actually been in porn before and I can't say I was ever raped...

Re: Do you feel guilty for buying sex toys or porn?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-22 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
First of all, how can you be sure? Porn abuses women in hundereds of different subtle ways. I mean, even standard "Dark alleyway" sexual assaults can leave a victim feeling like they were at fault, that is was their responsiblity. never mind the subtle manipulations used by the men who run the porn industry. It's a lot less black and white. And that's not ever going into the fact that the porn industry attracts girls with emotional problems who feel the only value they have is as a sexual object, then there's the drugs to make a woman more 'agreeable'.
What I'm getting at is that the world has a way of twisting women up in it's expectations to the point that they view something as degrading as sex for money is ok. It is possible you did it totally willingly without any outside force, but the likelihood that you would have the freedom to make that choice, and be so free of influence as to recognise that choice is truly your own is so very small.

Secondly, can I ask you why you did porn? Because I suspect it was for the money, yes? Have sex with this man camera or starve? You might not be able to see it, but that is rape by coercion.

I'm sorry, I'm being way too harsh on you. What happened to you was terrible and you don't need me yelling in your face about it. I just I don't think it's healthy to act like it was nothing bad, I think you need to accept what it was, but that's just my opinon, you don't need me telling you what to think. so yeah, I'm sorry.

what the fuck is wrong with you? when someone tells you they weren't raped, the correct response isn't to be like "no you idiot, you're a rape victim"

nothing terrible happened to me. I like money and I have an exhibitionism kink, you lunatic

in retrospect, you are probably a troll and now I feel silly for letting you get me worked up. maybe I'll go watch some porn and cool down

Re: Do you feel guilty for buying sex toys or porn?

Oh, I see, an "exhibitionism kink". How vary useful for you're chosen industry.

Tell me, where do you think this "exhibitionism kink" came from? Hm?

I'll give you a clue: Nothing exists in a vacuum, and our society is build on convincing women it is ok to show off as much of their bodies as possible.

Because of course all women are naturally shy and reticent and afraid of being seen and would never choose to go out in public in anything less than a gown that covers them from neck to ankles if they weren't brainwashed by glossy fashion magazines and evil evil men.

Oh, oh! Come back! Come back and tell us how marriage is slavery! Or how all sex is rape!

a+++++ you are the best feminist, gold star.

I know you're just trolling, but seriously; I once attended a panel at a feminist event that was discussing anti-porn legislation, and someone jackass saying the same shit as you (and genuinely believing it, by all accounts) drove one of the panellists to tears. Said panellist had been raped, but not in the course of making porn, which for her was a personal expression endeavour (she'd never been paid for porn nor circulated any of the films she'd made). The jackass then went home and wrote a blog entry about how it was a mean panel that had made women cry!

tl;dr you're disgusting, 'porn is raeeep' is as disgusting as every other 'x is rape' faux-metaphor, you get so many gold stars for telling anons that they are degraded, emotionally damaged drug-takers. Best feminist is you, the rest of us may as well leave the movement and let you have it all to yourself.

Re: Do you feel guilty for buying sex toys or porn?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-22 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
I think I just got sarcasm poisoning from that reply. Maybe dial it in a bit?

Porn is rape 99.99% of the time. it's a probable fact that the men who make porn use drugged and emotionally damaged girls (And you're little anecdote about a girl who had been raped doing porn sort of backs up that point) because they are easy to manipulate. It's a provable fact that women resort to porn and prostitution out of financial desperation. Not a damn thing I've said up there is untrue. The porn industry is a terrible system of abuse and it's so closely tied to the rest of our society's ways of thinking that most of the people being abused won't even realize it.

My panellist friend is a woman, thanks, not a 'girl', and the porn had been a thing a long time before the rape happened.

eta: do you even listen to yourself? You really are the creepiest troll on fs, achievement unlocked. Your contempt for women just reeks off every word.

Different anon here. Yes, you can do porn and be perfectly fine, but that isn't true for the whole industry. A lot of women have been raped, forcing into doing things like anal against their will, were given STDS, etc, all while doing porn. Here's some accounts from some ex-porn stars.

Yeah. That's really sad for them. But see, you can do all kinds of jobs that have a certain risk factor and be perfectly fine but still have a large number of people in the same field who are not.

I know women with Bachelors who have sex for money. They enjoy the hours and the pay. They are not coerced and love their job.

Re: Do you feel guilty for buying sex toys or porn?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-22 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
So? Intelligence isn't a factor when we're talking about emotional manipulation. They "Love their job"? Isn't it interesting how many women love having a job that reduces them to what the "patriarchy" (Hate the term, but it's the only one that fits) wants them to be?

You go back in time and ask a black slave if she enjoys serving her white masters, and see how many say "No it's demeaning and degrading"

Re: Do you feel guilty for buying sex toys or porn?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-22 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
I'm saying that the porn industry is not like working in burger king. It's built on abuse and rape and the subtle manipulations that make the victims see it as "Not rape, just the way the industry works, and anyway I love it and am so happy my male owners benefactors take such good care of me"

Out society has put a lot of work into briainwashing women, and the porn industry has turned it into an artform

Hang on, is it a religious thing? Were you raised with the typical catholic bullshit of "Your body is sinful and you should feel ashamed of being a women!"? I'm sure Catholicism isn't unique in this, btw, I just know for sure from personal experience how backwards its. It's equally possible any number of religions could have left you with shame and guilt about your body.
