Re: Anyone here have weird/fucked up families?

If you can think of anything bad it has probably happened in my family with the exception of violence and purposeful neglect. I usually explain my family life as a bad soap opera.

Among those, an alarming amount of mental illness, substance abuse, hundreds of stays in prison*, illegitimate children (also none of us cousins are born into marriage, and only 2 sets of them have the same parents), my cousin was murdered by her stepfather and more family feuds that I can keep up with on any given day...

*One prison escape, which is a funny story actually.

A funny prison escape? Did he tie bedsheets together and climb out of the window?

Not funny escape, funny story... Slightly different.

I've told it before, but I can tell it again: My aunt got sentenced to 14 days in prison when she was young for refusing to pay a fine. Right before she went in she read an article in the newspaper that the prison she was going to was impossible to escape from.

Anyway when she got there, the new female ward was being built so the women got placed in temporary places, where my aunt realized that if she climbed out of her window at night and jumped the fence she could easily escape, so being young, stupid and eager to prove the prison guards wrong. She escaped one night, even did the old making your bed look like it has someone sleeping in it trick.

After she escaped, without money and IDs and such, she went to her apartment that she shared with her boyfriend, who owed some drug dealers money. The way drug dealers get the message across is often to beat up partners of those who owe them money, so my aunt ran away to the police station. I guess at this point I should mention it is winter far up north in Norway and my aunt is just in light clothes and still no ID. She went into the police station telling the police officer she had escaped from the prison and if he could please take her back there.

The policeman called the prison and they looked at her room called back and said that she was in her room and they had no missing people, so my aunt got sent back out, and told to stop lying.

Anyway she went back a couple of hours later, explaining to the same man that he had to make the prison guards really look in her room, and he obliged and called the prison back this time telling them to really look in the bed, and shortly after they called back saying that "yep she is ours, could you please bring her back to us"

When my aunt got back to the prison and sent to the office of the head prison guard, she was asked if she would escape again if they put her back in my room. My aunt still young and defiant told him that they said it was impossible to escape and as long as it was possible to do so she would.

She ended up being put in the unfinished female ward, where she hung out with the builders and getting love letters sent in magazines from the male prisoners for the remaining 10ish days of her sentence, she was supposed to get a 3 months stay for escaping, but she was too much of a bother to keep in the prison that they didn't bother to do so.

So that is the funny prison escape story, which is a lot funnier when my aunt tells it, because she is an amazing story teller, but I tried my best.
