For me, I think part of it is also that I gave up shaving my legs awhile back because doing so was causing me about two hours of intense pain afterwards (between fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and hips that like to partially dislocate, yeeeargh). I used to have problems with chafeage but it was always the worst the day after shaving, where I had stubble but my skin was too sensitive to go over with a razor again. It's really only been since I cut that out entirely I haven't had that, which I actually didn't realize until I thought about it just now.

Which, I know isn't an option for everyone; where I live, the worst I have ever heard is "Fucking Evergreener" (Evergreener being a derogatory term for our local very liberal college -- I have to admit, this just makes me giggle)... which is very different from where I used to live, where if you didn't shave your legs people felt perfectly comfortable yelling that you were a disgusting pig on the street. Yeah...

Ouch, that sounds painful all on its own. I had a nightmare about that last night (after reading and then falling asleep before responding).

But didn't you know? If you're feminine at all you have to conform to the strict ideals of attraction! I listened to a couple straight girls at a Pride parade, once, tearing a guy down for marching without shaving his legs before walking in shorts and high heels. Of course they never said it to his face, just safely from the sidelines. Prejudice, yea!
