I feel ya', OP. There's plenty of things I have absolutely no interest in that my friends are really passionate about, but I try not to forcibly "convert" people into liking something I do, because I get the whole "I'm not interested, please don't force me to be interested"-type feelings. If they somehow come to like it, great, but it's all a case of 'different strokes for different folks'. (Granted, I do think levels of passion can and are sometimes interpreted in ways that may come off as 'trying to forcibly get someone to like this thing I like', but that's another tack for another time)

At the very least, I think it's nice to be supportive of friends' fanworks, even if it's just hitting the 'Like' button and/or leaving a nice comment about a technical aspect of it. But that might just be me, I dunno.
