Voldemort wasn't mad at Lucius for not being shitbag-pyschopath grade villain the way Snape came off at school, he was mad at Lucius for losing his Horcrux and then further failing him at the Department of Mysteries. There is no evidence anywhere that Lucius didn't display his prejudices in a satisfactory enough manner for Voldemort, nor is there evidence anywhere to suggest that Voldemort would've given one flying shit about Snape's reputation as a sadist at school, or had an interest in how Snape treated Harry's friends or other Gryffindors. He might have cared about Snape favouring Slytherin obviously, but Snape could've done that without being a bully to his students. In fact, Snape all but backhand compliments Hermione to Bellatrix in HBP with that "Potter gets by on luck and more clever friends" (paraphrased) line of his and no one even blinks.
