In the movie, Light had a genuine girlfriend, who has his girlfriend before he became Kira. That's not accurate at all. In the manga, he's "dated" Misa and Takada, but only as part of a farce, not genuinely.

When I said the live action movies cut the second arc, I was referring to the Mello/Near arc. I don't recall claiming in my above post that L didn't die in the anime? I'm talking about the movie. In the movie, L has his own name written in the Death Note before Light can had Rem write it, but gives himself the maximum number of days (40 iirc). Though I hate virtually everything about the movies, I was not a fan of the manga/anime's second arc with Near and Mello so found that to be a cleaner way to end the series.

Oh lol his character, not him - as in, they totally destroyed him. The movie!L was nothing at all like the anime/manga L.
