I agree and I think the rest of the movie isn't too great, either.

Huh. I'm the opposite here. I thought the visual style was fine and everything else was so nauseatingly, forcedly twee that I wanted to turn the damn thing off the entire time I was sat through it.

This is how I felt, but I couldn't make it through. I liked the visuals, but the great visuals couldn't get me through that movie.

I was in a group of people who thought it was ~so adorable~ and all... and I was just like ok.jpg and sat there until it was over rather than ruin their enjoyment.

If it was just me I would have turned the damn thing off.

"Twee"
*eyes glaze over anything else in the I Am The Edgelord Of Adulthood comment.*

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2016-10-29 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Adulthood? lol I see you have never met me before.

I liked the film. But I guess people have to hate on popular things on principle.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-29 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? I love the film but it's okay if it's not someone else's cup of tea.

Popular? This movie's been our for ages, haven't seen it mentioned in ages.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-29 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Unless, you know, people just might genuinely not like it. Just because someone has a different opinion than you a big group of people doesn't mean it's "hating on it on principle".

It really worked for me. :)

(Anonymous) 2016-10-29 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Same! Granted, I'm also a huge Wes Anderson fan.

I don't remember much about the visual style, but this movie bored the hell out of me. Couldn't finish it.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-30 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the film was strictly mediocre. I don't understand the raves. There was some special effects, woopdeedoo, that's all.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-30 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
This is me with Moulin Rouge (or anything by Baz Luhrmann for the matter), Marie Antoinette, and The Grand Budapest Hotel. Their visual style annoys me to no end.

(Anonymous) 2016-10-30 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm OK with it, but I find it a bit much.

[personal profile] aniketosbriseis 2016-10-31 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I love everything about that movie, but it's not for everyone. It's bizarre and whimsical, unusual and poetic silly. I have a feeling only those who are Amelie themselves can truly get it.
