Idk, some people rly like the idea of male characters with long hair wearing it up in ponytails or buns. Probably some of the appeal is because Bucky never does that in the films, even tho most ppl of all genders with hair to their shoulders put it up from time to time.

Hahahaha, this secret is great. I'm not a big fan of this hairstyle for Bucky either.

I relate to this secret because whenever I see Bucky with long hair I think about it in Captain America vol 5 and it was drawn so ugly that when he finally got a haircut in the comics I cheered. Now it's back to long again and all the fans like it because of the movies and I'm just GDI that hideous hairstyle is back because SYNERGY!!!

Isn't the "style" just "tying hair back but some is not long enough so falls forward"? Seems accurate, but I guess if you don't like long hair you don't like long hair.

I can never decide whether I'm a fan of this or not. On the one hand, I actually really like this hairstyle on dudes and ladies alike; on the other hand, afaik he never wears this particular do in canon, so it's weird that everyone has latched onto it like some kind of signature style of his.

He looks bad with long hair and putting some of it away scales it back a little, but I doubt this is the common motivation of drawing him that way.

I like long hair on guys, but it always weirds me out if a guy puts it in ponytail that doesn't rest at the base of his neck. (Unless he's like, I dunno, a samurai or something.)

I find this a weird double standard since women do it all the time. I don't mean to criticise - it gives me pause too. But when I think about it it's weird that we find it odd.

Ha, whereas it weirds me out if they do the ponytail at the base of neck thing. I don't particularly care for that on women either though.

I don't have a preference either way but some people like the idea of him with his hair pulled back, simple as that. It's entirely aesthetic.

Mostly, I'm just always low-key annoyed that the super-assassin has such an impractical hairstyle to begin with. Long enough to make you easily identifiable and provide a convenient handhold for anyone you're grappling with. Short enough that it's difficult to keep it out of your face without more hair styling effort than Bucky probably wants to go to.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-15 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
Then how do you feel about Natasha's hair?

(Anonymous) 2017-03-15 11:06 am (UTC)(link)
Same, honestly. Although at least hers is long enough (depending on the movie)that she could put it up and back if she wanted to, and her hair specifically isn't enough to make her stand out in a crowd (at least in the Marvelverse, where every other woman is a redhead.)

Ballet buns for both of them! The no-nonsense Madame Ballet Instructor type that won't be moved by centripetal force or gale conditions.

I have no empirical actual evidence, but from what I've seen most of us Bucky fans seem to have a thing about his hair in general.

This picture looks like a white version of my brother. Sort of. With that hair style at least. :C I wish I had not seen it. Thanks, for destroying any Bucky love I might have had. I'll always have pre-metal-arm-smirking-in-uniform Bucky.

I dunno. Because Sebastian Stan pulled his hair back into a little tail/bun from time to time, with bits of it falling forward, and he looked hot as hell. And since he 'is' Bucky....
It translates.

It also gives this super-masculine, all in black with guns and knives and a horrible past/many issues/PTSD character a bit of softness and femininity, which I will *always* like.

And that's wrong how...?

Besides, he looks good in those pieces of artwork.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-15 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)
The bigger issue, IMO, is that I would have had no idea that was Bucky if you hadn't told me.
