I see it more like OP thinking "wouldn't it be nice if I won the lottery?" but not buying tickets and acknowledging the odds because what are the chances? And so many people do exactly that. It's nice to daydream. I don't know that daydreaming in this harmless way deserves all the belittling that's happening.

Daydreaming? No. Moaning about it in public? Absofuckinglutely.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-15 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
...I would assume that's why it's a secret for them??

Upon second thought, my analogy is not a good one. Because making an adventure for yourself is a lot easier than winning the lottery, but OP still doesn't want to even try. THAT'S why they're getting a little criticism, not because of the daydreaming about adventure.

But they literally said they want adventure sweep them away, not make one for themselves. I don't know how to argue this with you any more? I feel like I read a completely different secret!

Ah. Another person who thinks that planning an adventure means removing all risk or unpredictable elements. Have you or the OP ever planned... well, anything? Did it always go according to plan with no surprises?

Hint: adventures work the exact same way.

You're assuming a lot. I have planned adventures. I've had spontaneous adventures too! I've never had an adventure sweep me away like OP is talking about, but I don't really want one to.

Maybe it's because I'm reading OP's desire like they want to be Harry Potter the relatively unspecial kid that suddenly gets a letter. Or to be the anime protag that discovers friends with weird powers. You know, the normal person who isn't striking out, but gets swept off out of their life in something strange. Being the character who goes to find adventure then finds it is a different trope from that.

Everybody else seems to be assuming OP wants to sit and home and mope and do nothing and talk to nobody which is a really weird assumption to make given that most people don't do this.

Applause and love for this comment.

Some of us just understand that there's a difference between adventure knocking on our front door and adventure flying in our face at the park or the club or on the way to an event. Both are whisking, but one is far, far more likely to happen.

To the degree that any of this is likely that is.

Who says OP isn't going to parks or going to events though?? What if that's part of their normal life? I find it so, so weird that everybody is assuming OP is an antisocial shut-in.
