I have a problem with the opposite: where there is no sex until a character is much older or a character has very little experience. Sure, it happens, but not as much as I see in fanfiction.

It really depends on culture for this in my opinion. It's pretty common in Japan for people to not have sex until they're in their mid twenties (and in fact it's become an issue where people just aren't having sex...period, but that's another subject entirely), and even then it's not nearly as common in Japan for a person to have had a bunch of partners as it is in the West. Especially if we're talking same-gender experiences, there isn't the same sort of thriving, open LGBT community in the same way the West has it because of cultural differences. A lot of my Japanese friends who are LGBT stayed virgins well into their mid to late twenties (one actually just got a girlfriend for the first time and she's kind of adorably obsessed) so if we're talking anime fandoms this is pretty common, way more common than the weird "high school boys/girls know how to have sex like porn stars" trope I see constantly.

Other stuff I'd say it's a case by case basis (that goes for my secret as well, there are definitely characters I could totally see this being a legit thing for, it's just applied so indiscriminately and so often that it grates on me).
