I feel you, OP. Do you have self insert daydreams or write fic along those lines? It might help.

If someone offered me a chance to be transported to a favorite fictional world and lose my memories in the process, I'd do it. Even if it was one of those "don't have enough time to tell friends/family" deals. People might think I'm a horrible person for doing that, but after everything I've been through, I think I can be selfish for once.

The Guardians would be fun to hang out with, but I don't think I'd do too well in that universe. I'd rather go somewhere more peaceful.

Yo, I'd do the same. Almost all of my family and friends are assholes and my life is pretty lonely and meaningless atm. I'd totally go and live in a fictional universe without a second thought.

Same here. I'm not sure which universe I'd pick, but frankly, I'd be willing to go pretty much anywhere else.

It seems like a difficult and miserable thing to dislike your life so much that you'd want to inhabit a fictional universe. There's also an aspect I don't think many people consider, which I think is best expressed as "Wherever you go, there you are" - whatever makes one miserable here isn't likely to change with a change in surroundings. We all have the ability to effect positive changes in our wellbeing and in our relationships with others, through a variety of different ways. So for all of you who aren't happy, I'm sorry you're in the situation you're in, and I hope you can figure out how to make some part of it better.

That having been said - fic and daydreams are both fun distractions and can be healthy coping mechanisms for temporarily difficult situations.

On the other hand, you don't have to deal with Thanos?

Having close relationships helps. Really! I used to long to be in Knights of the Old Republic (not the MMO) A LOT, but I have a family now and while I get that want now and again, it's nothing like before.

I think it's usually worth asking, if we want to escape, what exactly we want to escape from - not just where to.
