Not disagreeing, and as someone who has not seen all of ATLA I won't be able to say whether it's over-rated or not (to me), but as someone in other fandoms, I will agree with OP that it can be VERY tiresome when the only recs or conversations are about ONE show or ONE book or ONE manga that hundreds of others may fit the criteria of the person looking for something new.
