I only have a few Pullips (and one Byul, and one Dal) and they aren't all lolita, but I feel this way sometimes when I look at certain releases: that I wish so much I could wear that cool or elaborate clothing, or try extensions to make my hair that long and beautiful, but since gaining so much weight the past 10 years or so I just can't see a point. You feel bad thinking things like that because it isn't very body positive, but I think it's unfortunately normal for bigger and older women (or all people, but women in particular have a special and cruel history with appearance) to feel ashamed of the idea of being strange or tokenistic for "calling attention" to themselves. It is sad and I'm definitely not saying you SHOULD feel that way OP, but you aren't alone. I hope the dolls make you happy and you can still feel like you're expressing yourself in whatever way you're comfortable with.

I know it can be difficult but speaking as someone who's both fat and into j-fashion, honestly nothing has given me more confidence. I used to wear big shapeless clothes that hid my body but now I wear pretty dresses and feel beautiful. I find it fun to carefully coordinate my outfits and I've actually never gone shopping in lolita and not had at least one random person stop me and compliment my outfit (and I live in a little suburb out in the sticks, not a big city). There's a lot of ways to 'tone down' your coords if you're not comfortable with over the top stuff -- one of the good parts of being plus size is you can still get a decent silhouette without a petticoat so I'll often go without it unless I'm specifically at a lolita meet or con -- and it makes me feel happy. Everyone deserves to look cute and enjoy their clothes, regardless of size.
