How was your weekend, FS?

Had chili outside the house for lunch and iced mint tea afterwards.

Well, my work meeting yesterday went well, and I was able to get some more work as well.

Other than that, though, been a little rough because I've had a massive headache all weekend. Meds aren't touching it. And I didn't sleep well either night because of said headache. So I haven't watched anything, just been reading ebooks. A couple of my old favorite erotica books that I have on my Kindle.

Tried to do too much so my body has been hating on me since yesterday afternoon.

I mean I did get a lot of good stuff done (my bunnies' 50lb hay bale is inside the house instead of the back of my car, did some overdue cleaning, ordered some groceries and picked up the ones I couldn't get delivered, I did get to the garden center to get them herbs, I took a couple long walks around the park and got two Pokemon Go badges to platinum) but I have been paying for it by my GI tract not functioning and being incredibly dizzy whenever I'm not lying down.

And this is not cool because I still have a lot of things I couldn't get done because of the dizziness and reflux, so this week is going to be a massive pain.

I was given the J&J vaccine the day before the pause and my anxiety has been having a field day. My days have been me desperately trying to forget about it.

Lonely. :( One sister flaked out on gaming Saturday and the other canceled on helping me pick out colors for my basement. Now what will I do with these 30 paint chips cards?!?! Did make some nice pasta sauce this evening. Have enough to freeze.

Not bad! I did housework all day yesterday so today I went to the beach. It was sunny and cold and no surf to speak of, even though there were lots of surfers out. I got breakfast at a beachside restaurant and had a cheeseburger and a couple of beers (it was an excellent burger cooked to perfection with cheddar, lettuce, onion, dill pickles, and tomato slices). After breakfast I checked out a bikini shop and bought myself some new summer clothes (two pairs of beach pants, a couple of tees, and a hoodie sweater), and then I was bad and bought myself a white gold palm tree necklace that I totally did not need (but it's sooooo cute tho). Now I'm back home and trying to decide what to have for dinner. I'm thinking pizza with a side salad.

Honestly, bad because I feel guilty for procrastinating a lot, but actually good. I did about half of what I had to then did some last-minute necessary housework and I hate housework so much that I decided to give myself some time to rest lol and turns out I rested too much so tomorrow will be a VERY busy day. But I like to let my hyperfixations win sometimes. It's the way to avoid depression.

Animal death tw

It was fine (I had to work Saturday but eh) until sunset today, when I realized the parent of the baby black phoebes outside my back door hadn't come back.

The birds are still at the mostly naked eyes closed stage, and while it was warm today, it cooled off and got super windy after dark. I don't know if the babies are still alive. I called the local wildlife rescue and they have a kind of heated brooder box drop off set up when they're closed, but I take public transit and it would take me hours to get there and I'd probably be stranded overnight.

I have an infrared chicken brooder panel I could put the babies under overnight, but I'd have to run an extension cord into my bathroom since the outlets don't work and it's the only place I can keep my cat from eating them. But also I don't want to touch them and find out they're dead. I may end up calling in to work tomorrow because either I'll be taking baby birds to the rescue place and be late, or burying them and be crying buckets all day.

I also feel guilty because while my cat is indoors only, I've been feeding a pair of outside cats that I know are a threat to wildlife, but I think maybe their owner died, because the house where they used to live never went up for sale, but has new owners who redid the landscaping and got a dog they leave outside all day. I hope the cats didn't eat the mother bird.

Have you ever clicked too much on one topic...

(Anonymous) 2021-04-18 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
...and now you have too many of the same topic in your recommended feed?

Signed, someone who is sick and tired of pregnancy time lapses in their Youtube feed.

Yes! It happens to me all the time. I want more music recs, but Youtube thinks I want more doctor, lawyer, and Reddit vids thanks to some of the things I watch sometimes.

I think Youtube just wants me to watch longer things more often. Because it also keeps reccing me videos that are an hour or more of music all together, even though I never watch those vids. I want the vids with one song only.

Worse. Way worse. I clicked the wrong news article and ended up opening some right wing bollocks about covid vaccines. Now MSN news shows me right wing news articles. D:

Oh absolutely. I like to watch video essays sometimes about all sorts of things, movies/TV/general trends and shit, and every single time I'll get recommended these chode right-wing dickbags on my youtube simply because it seems like a lot of those right-wing wankers make those kinds of videos.

Like, youtube I was watching someone dissect the music in CATS, stop thinking I want to watch some fucknugget rant about women for 50 mins.

I'm not entirely sure what I clicked on that caused my Google account to think I want it to pop up notifications on my phone every time the Atlanta Braves are about to play or done playing. I don't live anywhere near Atlanta and don't even really watch my own baseball team all that often, so all I can figure is that I clicked on/shared too many stories in the last few months about A: voter suppression/runoffs in Georgia, B: the mass shooting there, C: the MLB getting it right for once and moving the All-Star game. Maybe also clicked on baseball scores for my team to see how they were doing and they happened to be playing the Braves that day? I am lost. And also completely uninterested in the Atlanta Braves.

Yeah I just want more variety in my YouTube recommended, instead of the same 5 things that YouTube knows are brain candy that I'll click forever

I purposefully reject youtube cookies so it can only recommend based on what I'm looking at. It's great. If I'm looking up Ear Wax Removal videos (yesterday), I don't want all my recommendations to be about Untamed behind the scenes videos (the day before's topic of interest)

yeah, I've done this.

Thankfully Firefox has these nifty "private" windows, so I can open really click baity things in there and they don't mess up my recommended. I think Google accounts lets you delete your history too. That could help.

YouTube exasperates hyper fixation but is as permeable for me so it’s hardly noticeable any tie

Yes. And I'm a curious bitch so thanks to that I have some really, really random and dumb interests that don't seem to fit my general pattern of interests.

Yes.

If it helps, you can delete your history or some videos you clicked related to the topic: https://www.youtube.com/feed/history

I had to do it from time to time because Youtube wont stop reccing me the most stupid stuff ever over me clicking on a single vid.

I got curious about how tornadoes look like when they’re forming, so I watched a video on them. Now my feed is full of tornadoes, tsunamis, hurricanes, and earthquakes.

On the one hand, the poor abandoned cat videos I was watching one day when I was feeling particularly morbid keep popping up.

On the other hand, I have major crushes on a couple of actors, and I can't look at their faces without squealing and waving my arms around like an infant, which causes embarrassment if someone is watching me when I open YouTube and see their faces all over my recs.
