I've not finished the series and I haven't read the books, but watching what I have, I wouldn't have guessed she's intended to have a crush on him and it was kind of nice to have a YA series where the main male/female friend characters weren't OMG STAR CROSSED LOVERS, so hearing they're probably end game almost makes me want to not watch lol.

I was hoping she'd get together with the shadow guy.

i'm genuinely boggled at how you didn't get that about them, the show hammers it in so hard it might as well have a giant MAL+ALINA5EVA neon sign at the top of the screen every episode. it's really not subtle about it at all.

I mean, I've only watched two episodes lol so maybe it gets more obvious later? Or I'm oblivious. Completely possible. xD I have had multiple people hit on me where someone else had to point it out later and I was like, "Oh they were just being friendly?"

NAYRT, but yeah, they were very, very obviously each other's one and only right from the beginning. I knew nothing about the story going in, but I found it pretty obvious from episode one that they were the narrative's OTP.

Loved the Crows, thought Mal/Alina was paint-by-numbers good guy friend vs. abusive but sexy. None of it felt all that original. The Crows are a D&D party with steam engines. But the Alina plotline felt like the romantic equivalent of the horror movie where shallow college students run into the haunted house repeatedly.

Kinda a breaking point for me in the tv series plot is how she never questions whether the 2nd Army is messing with her mail until after she's told to run away.
