Honestly, I can't stand Falcon and Winter Soldier shipping theories because it was half heterocentric "when Johnny comes marching home" and half derivative of those Regan-era movies where shirtless commandos do "good" through illegal military operations. It's tapping into a canon that praised my father and grandfather as "heroes" for serving, while simultaneously judging me as a queer person to be unfit to serve and I could never live up to their image.

But, Mackie gives speeches about democracy and the U.S. military's historic racism, so I guess it's all ok, right?
