Except TV Tropes breaks media down into tropes, it’s not a place where criticism is inherently the point. It can be criticized itself for oversimplifying media by only really examining the tropes in them, without any deeper look or attempt at substance or nuance. But TV Tropes leading to bad faith media criticism, especially compared to something more popular in the mainstream as Cinemasins? Yeah, no. Cinemasins is just as vapid, no matter if you’re buying into their excuses of jokes or not. And it has been noticeably much worse at spawning bad faith media criticism in larger numbers from the mainstream audience.
