(Anonymous) 2012-02-12 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)Completely disagree, unless the author originally posted the story only to a flist or some such. Nothing sketchy about sharing stories that were posted publicly.
It's not the 90s anymore. Caches exist. Be mindful of what you choose to share publicly. Don't post it if you think it's something you'll backtrack on.
The only people who get a pass in this are minors, imo. Adults have no excuse.

(Anonymous) 2012-02-12 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)Minors have this unfortunate tendency of becoming adults. Even young adults change in beliefs and awareness of safety/quality issues as they grow older. And how many people really have a solid clue on what they'll end up backtracking on five years, a decade, etc. later?
The internet may not forget, but if you're at least able to make it difficult for someone to track down any problematic things you said and did years ago or if you're dealing with a personal safety issue because of stalking, you damn well should be able to take that option.
