(Anonymous) 2012-08-10 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)Mostly in terms of being ridiculously sexist and nasty and gross (especially towards female characters) and (usually) getting away with it because omg you guys it's a guy in fandom we should totes cater to him (they had the entitled attitudes and defensive bullshit to match). Fandom guys I know are the rudest jerkasses in the fandom. The type who talk down to you and treat you like you can't possibly understand the source material because you're just a lowly girl, insist only guys can be ~true gamers~ and so on. It is SO NASTY.
I actually steer clear of guys in fandom - yeah, dogpile me if you want, I don't give a shit. IME they tend to be creepers or entitled, self-righteous jerks... or both, eww.
