The nurse recommended a mild soap, especially one specifically suited for the vulva. She didn't say shove a bar of Irish Spring up there all willy-nilly, which is what some people think they should do when someone equates the delicate skin of the inner labia with the skin everywhere else on the body.

I'll agree, though, that "Don't wash yourself with soap" needed some elaboration. People would take that advice too literally, too.
