If I'm walking around at a convention and I see a cosplayed character I recognize, 90% of the time the most I'll do is think to myself "oh wow, look at that" or point the cosplayer out to a friend, rather than walking up to say hi/kudos or flailing around and screaming about it. I'm sure plenty of people recognized you, but honestly? Anime convention populace is not generally the kind of enthusiastic attention you're happy to receive.

When I cosplay I *love* it when people come up to me and compliment my costume, ask for a pic, recognize my character, etc. Not if they're creepy about it, but an enthusiastic, "Hi, I love your costume! Can I get a pic? Thanks!" *walks away* is not creepy.

Are most people intensely creeped out by fellow con-goers, or something?

And what's the point of wearing a cosplay to a con if you don't want people to notice?

(OP Here) Actually just the opposite. A big reason I cosplay is to get attention. I've cosplayed the big stuff like Hetalia, Black Butler, etc as well and I loved the attention I got, so I have to disagree with your statement.
