I'm with you there, OP. My standards for quality fanfic are really high, and most people's contributions just don't meet what I'm looking for. OOCness is something that really drives me crazy, so I will hit that back button so hard when I come across it. Sadly it's rampant in fandom, especially when trying to pigeonhole characters into say a specific kink or something along those lines. People always seem to ignore OOC when it comes to porn.

And I'm the same when it comes to grammatical errors and misspelling. I can ignore a couple of them here and there, but when a story is just riddled with them, goodbye.

Chapter count and total word count is kind of a silly thing to be picky about though, there's some really good, long fics out there that are 200,000 words or more. Short chapters though... Yeah I'm with you there. When someone barely ekes out 1000 words and calls it a chapter, I tend to squint really hard at it. I can understand having a short chapter here and there but when the majority of your chapters are short... it's not really enough to keep rolling with whatever semblance of a plot you have.

So yeah, I agree with you on most things. Good fanfic is hard to find nowadays.
