Initially I really liked her portrayal, I think because I found it more accessible than in the books (a similar effect with Umbridge - I was so livid at her in the books that I had a hard time appreciating her character, and I love appreciating baddies) but as the movies progressed she did become over the top for me as well, and I was disappointed especially by DH 2. I wish HBC had shown her to be more of a cunning, powerful character (and I don't know how much of her performance was her choices and how much was Yates' suggestions) while still maintaining the deranged. Like in HBP, I loved her in Snape's flat and her smashing of the Great Hall, but in DH, I found all her childish obsequiousness embarrassing.
