I have a suspicion that it's because she focuses on them that they're the most boring and character-less.

This is what people say about a lot of background characters in Twilight and the thing is the reason they're more likable is because they're in the background and anything you can come up with is probably better than what SMeyer would have done with them. (Except for Alice who is the fucking worst either way IMO.)

I'm generally perplexed when I run into Alice-hate. Shrug.

I couldn't make myself read all the way through Breaking Dawn. Who's Benjamin?

(And a movie/book that focused on Charlie would be awesome. Investigating vampires and werewolves, without the in-your-face-even-though-it'll-never-be-canon homoerotic subtext of Supernatural...yes please.)

Yeah, I think the general consensus has been that if anyone else were the main characters, the books would've been better. Hell, I don't like Rosalie, Emmett, and Jasper, but their backstories are way more interesting than the entire series.

Then again, I also feel it would've been a much better series if it was written by someone else.

From what I can recall (I only skimmed the books and was drunk for the one movie) Jasper was fairly cool. I have a thing for Southern men though. ^.^

But other than that, yeah. It's like SMeyer saw a meme and went, "Make ALL of the characters cool....except the ones the book is about. Those two shall suck."

I always thought of Benjamin as a mary sue with powers that made no sense in the universe of the books. Being sensitive to people's thoughts as a human turning into mind-reading as a vampire? Being a charmer as a human and gaining some power over emotions after turning into a vampire? Being somewhat psychic before and fully psychic after being turned? I'll buy that. Being able to control the elements once you become a vampire? No. Too far. What the fuck was he doing as a human that suggested he'd control the elements?

The only character I liked in that series (keeping note I only read the first book and saw the second movie) was Rosalie because she was the only one to not fawn all over Bella. She's cool in my book.

I also like the phrase "purple passion."

i really really want a backstory fic about the Romanian vampires. they just seemed interesting to me

In the books characters like Benjamin were really boring because we know jack shit about them. I haven't seen the movies so I can't really say, there.

i don't know anything about twilight but that is a damn fine picture of rami malek and i'm just going to spend the next 10 min googling his face now

It's like I've always said--there are a lot of fascinating ideas dancing at the very edge of the Twilight series, and it's a damn shame none of them ever get explored. I would honestly love to read a story about the guy from the Civil War adapting to society from year to year. Or about that lady who ran around taking revenge on people in a bloody wedding dress. Sign me the fuck up for those stories.

I think I'm going to see the movie just for Seth, Leah, Dracula 1 and 2, and of course, ARO.

....what is Lee Pace doing in this movie? (...though to be fair, what is Michael Sheen doing in this movie too.)
