SA - I have never laughed as hard at a character as I did with Maximus. I love the movie overall, but seriously, everything with him is just brilliant.

ayrt: Yes, Maximus definitely ran away with that movie. Maximus actually reminds me a bit of Samson from "Sleeping Beauty" - way way WAY more personality and he does much more, but something about him made me think of Samson's over-the-top reaction when Prince Philip's cape and hat were stolen. Maybe Samson is his great-great-great-grand-daddy. ;)

SA - MAXIMUS TOTALLY REMINDS ME OF SAMSON, TOO! Which I actually think was probably intentional on the part of the creators, given their similar character designs. Sleeping Beauty was actually one of my fave Disney movies growing up (along with Sword in the Stone and Robin Hood), and Samson was one of my very favorite characters in that movie. Along with Maleficent and Merryweather, of course.

Okay, anon, I think we are officially each other's clones! (Except I never say Sword in the Stone or Robin Hood, but I blame my clone parents for that.) Love, love, love Sleeping Beauty - just a gorgeous film. I can go on and on about that one, about Maleficent, the beautiful scenery and the sky when she goes up into her tower to smite them all... Sleeping Beauty is still my favorite.

As for the horseys, I think Maximus edges out Samson slightly, but I like to think they'd co-exist well with each other.

Anon clone high five! The animation in Sleeping Beauty still blows me away to this day. That, combined with the soundtrack and the voice acting... ugh, so amazing. All of the side characters are great, too! I love the Kings and the drunken minstrel, lol. I agree with you about the scene with Maleficent on the tower. The whole climax of that movie is just freaking awesome. I have no words.

Maximus definitely wins it for me, too, but I love them both to pieces. I like your idea about Maximus being Samson's progeny. I am definitely keeping that as my new headcanon.
