it's like a space-time portal. (Not from the Portal series.) Homestuck's writer went back and shopped in that arm in a bunch of the comic's old panels because it became relevant. Kinda complicated. I think Chard's icon used to not have it either. kind of a cool touch

Yea, I don't think the arm has always been there either; it's pretty neat how she added it in later considering its origins. Thank you for telling me!

Right, that explains it. I suppose it's fanart? It's very pretty...plus, metal arms are badass. She sort of reminds me of some comic book character that I briefly encountered (I THINK while reading The Authority), but I can't remember which one...

No one could blame you for forgetting considering the number of icons I have... lol. And more ME is more fun!

Yeah, it's fanart. And I agree about metal arms! It adds another element of awesomeness to characters like Vriska and Ed Elric.
